LSA Annual Report 2018

Out now! The LSA Annual Report 2018 is now available to download (see menu item). As well as LSA highlights for the past year, this year's report contains a summary of the carbon footprint results of a record 59 reporting firms. The Annex to the report contains the individual footprints of each reporting firm. An exclusive detailed benchmark report, showing a comparison of each firm's performance in each aspect of the carbon footprint, will be available to LSA members from 18 June. Read more

LSA talks to Paul Crilly – MD of NJC

During a recent visit of LSA Task Force members and other LSA member guests to the Granary Square development at Kings Cross, hosted by Argent, the LSA's Amanda Carpenter talked with Paul Crilly, MD of cleaning and business support service company NJC about being a sustainable business. In this "first" outside broadcast for the LSA, Paul talks passionately about what it means to be sustainable and how his own company is approaching this and supporting clients. Read more

LSA 10th Anniversary

It’s been a decade since the Prince of Wales hosted his May Day Summit at which he challenged the business community, including the legal sector, to rise the challenge of climate change. This seminal event saw the birth of the Legal Sector (now Sustainability) Alliance. 10 years on and the LSA is still working hard to support law firms and others in the legal profession to measure, manage and reduce their carbon footprint and increase their sustainability. According to the Carbon Trust, quite apart from the challenges 2016 presented, it has been a momentous year for progress on climate change. Although we are still nowhere near reaching the levels of action needed to keep global warming well below 2degC, this festive season - rather than focusing on the very real doom and gloom which can occur as a result of climate change - the Carbon Trust would like to give you 16 reasons to be cheerful. AusLSA annual sustainability report

The LSA's Australian partner AusLSA has launched the latest of its annual sustainability reports. The Scope of the 2016 Legal Sector Sustainability Insight has tripled this year to addresses the legal sector’s most material impacts under the categories of; Our People, Our Community, Our Environment and Governance. The addition of these categories better align with the Global Reporting Index approach and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Read more

L’Appel de Paris

Following on from the historic resolve made at the Paris COP21, LSA members are encouraged take up the call to "non-state actors" by French Foreign Minister Laurant Fabius to pledge action on climate change - the so-called "L'Appel de Paris" or Paris Pledge for Action. Read more

5 Dec ESOS deadline is looming!

5 Dec 2015 is the deadline for LSA members who qualify for the Government's Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) to carry out their assessments and notify the Environment Agency. Read more
