Business & the Global Goals

01/02/2018 - 17:00 to 20:30

Linklaters, One Silk Street, London, EC2Y 8HQ

The UN Sustainable Development Goals, aka ‘Global Goals’, were launched in 2015 and have been described as the “greatest economic opportunity of a lifetime” by CEO of Unilever, Paul Polman. But what do they really mean for business and where are we at two years down the line? How can you and your business be part of them? And why do we all need to take action towards them now?

The Planet Mark™ event “Business and the Global Goals: how to be part of “the greatest economic opportunity of a lifetime” in association with the Legal Sustainability Alliance (LSA) will focus on the UN SDGs, what they mean for business and how they help change the world for the better. The UK Government is a signatory of the Global Goals and it is estimated the SDGs could create a $12 trillion economic opportunity by 2030

We are delighted to announce Mary Creagh MP, Chair, Environmental Audit Committee, as keynote speaker at The Planet Mark™: Business and the Global Goals, in association with the Legal Sustainability Alliance on Thursday 1st February 2018.

The UK Government is a signatory to the Global Goals, also known as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mary and the Environmental Audit Committee has and continues to scrutinise Government progress on the Goals and, following its inquiry into the SDGs in 2016, published a report on its findings in April of this year. Almost a year on, Mary will provide an overview of latest policy developments on the SDGs and the role business can play in meeting the Goals.

Also joining our speaker line-up is Louise Scott, Global Sustainability COO, PwC UK, and lead on the firm’s work in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals. Louise was instrumental in developing PwC’s SDG Selector, a free practical tool for businesses to find out which SDGs are relevant to them.

Additional high-profile speakers to be announced soon.

We will welcome an audience of The Planet Mark™ customer base and contacts across many sectors and many business sizes from small SMEs to large corporates will attend. The attendees will be decision makers and strategic management and leadership team representatives, as well as key partners of The Planet Mark™ and our associate sponsors.

The event is kindly hosted by Linklaters and supported by our associate sponsors the Legal Sustainability Alliance (LSA), HFW, Bidfood, Harrow Green, DP World and CNG.
